Our Story
Our Story
From Honeybees to Handmade Soap
Every small business has a story. Ours started with a few honeybees, some leftover beeswax, and one simple thought: I'm not letting that go to waste!
After harvesting honey from our bees, we found ourselves with plenty of beeswax. Being someone who hates wasting perfectly good materials, I started researching ways to put it to use.
That's when I discovered I could make lip balms and lotion bars!
So that's exactly what I did.
But there was one little problem. Even after making those products, I still had plenty of beeswax left.
Back to researching I went!
A Little Research, a Lot of Courage, and One Very Loud Scream!
Eventually, my research led me to soapmaking.
I was fascinated by the process, but there was one thing that absolutely terrified me: LYE!
No matter how many videos I watched or how much I read, I couldn't quite get past my fear of working with it.
So I signed up for a soapmaking class. Then I took another class. And, of course, I watched even more videos.
Finally, I decided it was time to make my very first batch of soap.
The fragrance? Peaceful Lavender.
And let me tell you, that experience was anything but peaceful!
My husband knew how nervous I was about mixing the lye into the water. So naturally, he waited until I reached that exact step.
Just as I started carefully pouring the lye, he BANGED on the counter!
I screamed. I jumped. And then I yelled!
Somehow, I managed to start stirring the mixture while simultaneously letting my husband know exactly how badly he'd scared me!
But here's the best part.
I didn't stop.
In fact, I went on to make TWO more batches of soap that very same day.
And this time? I didn't need his help!
